About Us — Ace Grade Calculator

About us

Grade math, without the guesswork.

Ace Grade Calculator is a small set of free tools built around one simple frustration: a syllabus tells you how your grade is weighted, but never what that actually makes your grade. So students end up doing weighted averages on scrap paper — or just hoping.

We built the calculators we wished existed: type in your scores and weights, and get your percentage, letter grade and GPA instantly, with the working shown.

  • ✓For students — know where you stand in every course, and what the final is really worth.
  • ✓For teachers — grade a stack of tests against a chart, or curve a whole class in seconds.
  • ✓For anyone checking a transcript — semester and cumulative GPA on the standard 4.0 scale.

Why this site exists

Built for the week before finals

Every semester ends the same way: a student staring at a gradebook full of percentages, trying to answer one question — "what do I need on the final?" The answer is buried in syllabus weights, category averages and a grading scale, and getting it wrong in either direction is costly. Aim too low and you coast into a worse grade than you needed to accept. Aim blind and you burn out studying for a score that was never required.

Ace Grade Calculator started as the answer to that one question and grew into a full toolbox. Each tool does a single grade job properly — weighted averages, final-exam targets, GPA, points totals, grading charts, curves — and shows its working, so the number it gives you is one you can check, not just trust.

Teachers told us they had the mirror-image problem: a pile of tests, a percentage to assign to each, and no patience for dividing by hand. That's why the set includes the EZ Grader chart and a class-wide curve calculator alongside the student tools.

The one formula behind most of it

Grade % = Σ (score × weight) ÷ Σ (weight)

Multiply every score by how much it counts, add those up, divide by the total weight. That's the weighted average at the heart of the grade, final grade and points tools — nothing fancier, and nothing hidden.

Where a result depends on a choice — like whether your school uses plus/minus letters — the calculator lets you switch it, rather than deciding for you.

How our calculators work

Straightforward math, honestly labelled

The standard US scale

Letter grades and GPA values follow the standard US grading scale — A = 90–100%, B = 80–89%, and so on, with plus/minus bands (A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3…) on the 4.0 GPA scale. Where a tool lets you turn plus/minus grading off, it grades on whole letters instead.

The working is shown

Our calculators don't just hand you a number. The weighted tool breaks down each assignment's contribution, the curve tool shows grades before and after side by side, and the scale chart sits one click away — so you can verify any result by hand if you want to.

Estimates, not transcripts

Results are careful estimates based on the scores and the scale you enter. Schools round differently, drop lowest grades, and set their own cutoffs — so always confirm your official grade against your teacher's syllabus or your school's gradebook.

Why it's free

No sign-up. No catch. Your numbers stay yours.

Grade math is not a premium feature, and a student checking their average the night before a final is the last person who should hit a paywall. So every tool on this site is completely free, with no account, no install and nothing to unlock.

Privacy follows from how the site is built: every calculation runs entirely in your browser. The scores you type are never sent to a server, never stored, and never tied to a name or an email address — close the tab and they're gone. There's nothing to leak because there's nothing collected.

What we hold to

Four rules every tool follows

01

Show the working

A grade you can't check is just an opinion. Every calculator exposes its formula or breakdown, so you can follow the number back to your own scores.

02

Answer in one step

No wizards, no five-page forms. Type your numbers, read your grade. If a tool can update as you type, it does.

03

Free means free

The full result, every time — not a teaser that unlocks for a fee, and never an account wall between you and your own grade.

04

Private by design

Calculations happen on your device because they can. We don't ask who you are, and your scores have no reason to leave your browser.

Questions, corrections or a tool you'd like to see?

If you spot a grading scale your school uses that we don't cover, find a result that looks off, or have an idea for a calculator we should build next, we'd genuinely like to hear it — that's how this toolbox has grown so far.
